Feature racing in Melbourne on Saturday is at Caulfield and The Race Club’s Adam Curkpatrick is backing a 5YO to storm home strongly over a favourable trip.
Best Bet
Caulfield (Saturday)
Race 8, 1200m
Nicolini Vito ($11.00, $2.80)
Was poor on face value resuming, however the market expected better and on proven figures, he is well and truly in this.
The lead in work was sound, and if anything, he just peaked over the final stages.
I think the top couple in the market are vulnerable at the trip and playing heavily to the late strength of Nicolini Vito ($11.00, $2.80).
Tip: Win
Value Best
Race 7, 1200m
Angry Skies ($10.00, $3.20)
Whilst I do think Va Via ($2.70) warrants favouritism off an impressive win (both visually and on the clock) this track and distance last start, I believe there is value in the resuming, gelded Angry Skies ($10.00, $3.20), who has jumped out solidly leading in, given a good sound out late in the piece in his most recent hit out.
Although his career stats do not reflect, he did show good ability through a lengthy debut prep, showing he’d had enough in the last two starts.
I believe he’ll be forward for this and happy to back in his inferred class at good odds.
Tip: Win
A lot to like today about the win of Angry Skies on debut over 1200m at Swan Hill. Trained by @lindsayparkrace, the Dorrington bred 3YO is by @SwettenhamStud’s genuine winner-getter in Toronado from the stakes placed Iteration. Reckon we'll be seeing a lot more of Angry Skies. pic.twitter.com/VGLFmb4amD
