She might be a short quote from a low draw, but the Race Club’s Adam Curkpatrick is confident a 4YO mare can overcome the race’s main danger at Flemington on Saturday.
Best Bet
Flemington (Saturday)
Race 2, 1400m
Pacific Ruby ($2.70, $1.38)
Resumed in great fashion, looking to be beaten a furlong out, even at the 100m mark never winning, before elevating late.
Third horse, Barbie’s Fox has since come out and run very well in a competitive Saturday race.
Some query the low draw, however with even luck, I believe she is better suited here to her main danger Seonee ($4.20).

Value Bet
Race 3, 1400m
African Pioneer ($10.00, $2.25)
Whilst I think the favourite, Steparty ($1.45) is hard enough to beat, he is skinny to a couple that I believe you can infer good upside.
African Pioneer ($10.00, $2.25) was one put in the book, finishing behind Blazing Harry, who came out and ran well behind the favourite, Steparty at Flemington a fortnight ago.
African Pioneer did a little bit wrong there, however I believe profiles well for the mile now and expect he is one of the stronger closers.
Acierto ($8.00) isn’t as sharp as the others and may need a shade further, however no surprise to see him in the finish.
