A boom 5YO mare looks primed to be the talk of the town at The Valley on Friday night and The Race Club’s Adam Curkpatrick has the race favourite as his best bet of the weekend.
For his value bet, the racing expert has found a lively type at juicy each-way odds earlier in the card,
Best Bet – Moonee Valley (Friday)
IMPERATRIZ ($1.75, $1.08), Race 7, 1000m.
I think it impossible to go against the talk of the town, Imperatriz off an absolute boom win first-up, jogtrotting past the field, hands and heels, recording big figures.
Days between runs good, and any of her recent three figures have her very, very hard to beat.
It’s only bad luck or a substantial down turn in performance to see her lose.
Uncommon James ($4.40) is the only other minor case I could make, however I’m sticking with clearly the best horse in the race.
Tip: Win
IMPERATRIZ is a superstar 🤩

The kiwi wonder mare sizzled the turf and broke the 1000-metre track record today in the Group 2 Mittys McEwen Stakes, stopping the clock in 56.68 seconds! 💨 @mickdee020 x @TeAkauRacing 🇳🇿#LoveTheValley pic.twitter.com/LZ33zhLEtV
Value Bet
MAOTAI ($11.00, $3.40), Race 3, 1200m.
They were pretty soft on Maotai behind an even tempo, and he didn’t really get a proper wind up over the final furlong when resuming at Rosehill, in what was a strong enough rating race.
I believe he is back a little more forward this prep and with the low draw, some speed engaged, he only needs a little luck turning home to be right in the finish.
Certainly worth something each-way ($11.00, $3.40)
