Golden Chance To Eat Up Sandown Mile On Saturday: Price/Kent

A long-striding 3YO takes on the Sandown Mile on Saturday and the Price/Kent stable are confident he’ll make it two on the bounce.

Over in Adelaide, the stable has another golden chance at a short quote at Morphettville.

Race 7, 1600m

Golden Path ($3.80, $1.70)

An interesting horse, I see he’s favourite, the market likes him, he’s probably our best winning chance.

He had one start only at Pakenham and won by 3 lengths in a moderate maiden.

He’s definitely trained on nicely, drawn barrier 4 which suits, Beau Mertens is low-flying at the moment and the horse likes soft or heavy ground.

So, he ticks a few boxes but he is up against some tough seasoned opposition, so I think he’ll be doing very well to win two on the bounce.

But he’s a nice horse, beautiful big long stride, so I think he’ll eat up the Sandown mile and he definitely can win.

Sandown (Saturday)

Race 9, 1800m

Deepstrike ($7.50, $2.60),

He’s a horse that loves this course and distance.

Sandown 1800, he is 3 starts 2 wins and 1 second, he ran second in this distance two weeks ago when he stormed home from way back in the field.

Similar set up, he’ll be back and wide which won’t be a bad thing in race 9 at Sandown, a chopped up track.

He’s got this young gun Wiremu Pinn aboard, he’s ridden 2 group 1 wins in New Zealand, yet still claims 3 kilos over here.

He’s a very nice each-way chance, he’s going well in what is a competitive race.

Tip: Each-Way

Race 1, 1000m

Altruist ($9.50, $2.90)

He’s won both his jump outs leading in, worked well here Tuesday morning for Blake Shinn who takes the ride on Saturday.

He’s a nice each-way chance, but we’re probably a better place chance than winning chance but the horse is going really well and happy to see him run there, I think he’ll go nicely.

Race 7, 2250m

Golden Crusader ($2.80, $1.40)

The key to that horse is getting things his own way out in front.

If he gets taken on, he gets stirred up, he does too much work.

This race looks to set up perfectly for him, there’s not a lot of speed in the race and he should lead comfortably from barrier 3.

Does carry topweight, track is a heavy8 which won’t worry him, so as long as he gets things his own way, finds rhythm, relaxes nicely, he should give plenty of chase.

Horse is going well and he can win as well.
