The Race Club’s Adam Curkpatrick is backing a lively 4YO to upstage the favourite at Sandown on Wednesday.
For his best bet, the racing expert is tipping a 6YO mare at a good quote to relish a step up in trip.
Best Bet
Sandown (Wednesday)
Race 8, 1600m
Bigolino ($7.00, $2.40)
Bigolino ($7.00, $2.40) was dropped in grade and trip last start and saluted accordingly.
He showed plenty of merit prior at the mile, with the winner Flash Flood going on to win again, doing so in sound figures.
He should find the front without too much issue, and despite the weight, his position in run advantage to the favourite Time Quest ($2.10, $1.26) is noteworthy and I’m comfortable he is in this a long way.
Clear value.
Tip: Win

Race 3, 1400m
La Vina ($9.50, $2.80)
La Vina ($9.50, $2.80) ran down second-up post resuming in good figures when first-up off a lengthy spell.
On the quick back up a positive, coupled with firmer ground and a soft map, I believe we’ll see a turned performance.
I’m not sure Bedggood has her completely figured out, and I’m sure most will hold the same query, the distance.
However, there is enough in her price and her two runs this time in indicate the step up in trip is a positive.
Better value than the favourite.
